ARTISTIC STATEMENT

What if, beyond appearances, light revealed what the eye cannot see?

I come from pharmacy: I kept the precision and traded the microscope for lacquer.

Lacquer is my language: polished, carved , light emerges and clarifies.

In the studio, I experiment material reactions, an extended timescale.

My series (Earth, Seas, Emotions, Timeless) are my compasses.

Seen from above, inscribed in the material, at the scale of the intimate.

I condense presence, tension, rhythm, silence.

Surfaces reflect as much as they absorb. A passage rather than an explanation.

An embodied, quiet abstraction. Light has the last word.

BIOGRAPHY

Claire Lassonnery is a French contemporary artist based in Asia for over thirty years.

Trained in traditional lacquer in Vietnam, she transforms this ancestral craft into a contemporary, luminous, and patient language.

A Doctor of Pharmacy, she brings scientific precision and experimental rigor to an exploration of light and material.

Her gaze is shaped by an aerial viewpoint born of life abroad.

Her work is shown in galleries and private collections across Asia and Europe, and has been exhibited in Malaysia, Singapore, and Monaco.
